How to post a listing to NC-Politics.com

Entering candidate profiles!

In order to enter a "Candidate Profile" listing you first need to REGISTER at the site by providing a valid email address and password, THEN an email will be sent to the email that you supplied. You MUST reply to the email to activate your registration.

Once you respond to the email you can then enter a Profile. Then read over the "Listing Instructions" (below), so you can collect the needed information before you attempt to input your profile, it will help you save time.

Candidates are encouraged to get their profiles in soon in order to maximize their potential exposure to the voters, site traffic and visits have started to dramatically grow as we get closer to the election.

Candidate Profile Listings
..(enter a Candidate Profile) 

FIRST - We ask that only candidates (or their designated representative) enter candidates profiles (for obvious reasons). In order to enter a listing an individual must first register with the site and provide a valid email address, you will receive an email confirmation that you must respond to in order to activate your registration, you can then enter a candidate profile.

Next: Gather together the information that you want to enter. You will be asked the following questions (required data is noted with an "*").

  • Title: * - IMPORTANT: This MUST Include the CANDIDATE NAME and the OFFICE they are running for ...ONLY !
    It should look like: George Washington for City Council
    Do not enter anything else, not even the City / County name, that is taken care of elsewhere!
  • Description * - This will appear as "Candidate Introduction" at the TOP of your listing. Input a paragraph about the candidate This is your chance to tell voters something about the candidate.
  • # Days you want add to run: * - This controls when your "candidate profile ad" will expire / disappear. Here you need to consider if you are running in a primary, or unopposed for the general election. If you are to be in a primary; choose a number of days that ends immediately after the primary, Once you win the primary you will need to respond to the system reminder that your ad is expiring, and continue it until the end of the general election. If you do not win the primary, do nothing, the ad will expire on it's own. Note: we cannot check who won all the primaries across NC, out of respect for the process, please allow your ad to drop if you are eliminated in a primary.
  • Candidate Name * - Enter the candidate name as you want it to be known and appear in your candidate profile ad.
  • Running for: * - Select the Office you are running for, If it does not show in the drop down box, choose "other" and send us an email naming the office you are running for, we'll fix that one right up!
  • Dist / Seat / Ward: - If you are running for a specific seat/dist/ward, etc. please enter that data here. For instance, if you are running at large: enter "At Large". If this does not make sense for your race, leave it blank.
  • Party: * - Select your party, unless you are in a nonpartisan race, in which case choose "N/A". If you are in a party that is not listed choose "other" and send us an email naming the party you are affiliated with.
  • Campaign Address: - Enter the address that you want voters (or anybody else) to see. Who knows, maybe they will send a donation !
  • Campaign Email: * - Enter the email address where you (the candidate) can be reached. Note: this does not have to be the same as the email that was used to register with the site. If you enter the correct format it will appear as a click able link.
  • Campaign BLOG: - Enter the URL of your BLOG, start with "www." and it will display as a click able link!
  • Other Web site Link: - Enter the URL of your Web site, start with "www." and it will display as a click able link!
  • Resident County: Name of the county of residence (optional, makes sense for statewide races)
  • Major Issues: Enter a short paragraph (4 line max) detailing the issues that you (your candidate) cares the most about
  • Position Statement: - THIS is the major TEXT area!! Enter up to 50 lines about you, your campaign, whatever...this is the place to enter your pitch!
  • Occupation: - (optional, only 25 characters)
  • Education: - (optional, only 40 characters)
  • Birthplace: - (optional, only 40 characters)
  • Religion: - (optional, only 25 characters)
  • Incumbent: - (optional, Yes or No answer only)
Entry Process:
  • Navigate to the Candidate Listings section of the NC-Politics site (3rd menu option from the right)
  • Login to the site
  • Click on the link in the small box on the left that says "New Ad" or the one at the top that says "Add Ad"...then,
  • Choose from the drop down box or Navigate to the Region / County / City that contains the race you are entered into.
  • Enter your Data (see list above)
  • Enter a photo (if you want to display one ) must be 300 x300 pix or smaller and less than 300K in weight.
  • Review your ad ! - make corrections / revisions as you wish!

There is a direct link called: "Resister To add a Candidate Profile" in the menu on your LEFT that will take you directly to the regristration process!

Any complaints received from a candidate about "false" listings will be taken seriously, the listing in question will be deleted !
