Candidate Profiles & Incumbent Lookup
NC-Politics strives to allow voters the ability to determine two pieces of critical information:
- Who is running for office?: These are called Candidate Profiles, they are short introductions to a candidate in the candidate's
own words.
- Who currently represents me?: This is called the Incumbent Directory, this allows voters the ability to find existing elected
officials by searching the LOCAL government web sites.
By allowing candidates to self-identify and enter their own profile we hope to obtain both a wider coverage and more accurate representation
of each candidate (from the viewpoint that the candidate would like to project). Candidates also provide a linkage to their campaign web site
in order to give voter an opportunity to investigate further.
Candidates are not required to have a campaign web site to enter a Candidate Profile, their profile alone provides a rudimentary internet presence,
but if a candidate does have a campaign web site or BLOG then its exposure to voters is vastly increased.
Free Search - for voters
Voters can search for local candidates in all 100 counties of the state. Candidate Profiles are filed by REGION, and then
by COUNTY, depending on the election calendar needs groupings of CITY or even finer may be required. The general rule is to look for
candidates in the same way that they would "file" with the board of elections.
Be sure to look for the "quick links" to popular cities / counties in the left column.
Free Listings - for candidates
There is no charge for Candidate Profiles, the candidate can say what THEIR issues are, we allow the candidate the freedom to make their win points. Candidates
can highlight what is important to them. Candidate Profiles can be changed as often as the candidate wants, to address developing issues.
Candidates do not have to have a campaign web site, their profile here provides a baseline internet presence, but if a candidate does have a campaign
web site or BLOG then providing a link to it here leverages that investment by increasing its visibility.
Links to Local BLOGS
We believe that the political dialogue and discussion that is occurring in the local BLOGS across our state
is one of the most important influences on our politics today. We avidly support this ongoing discussion and
encourage all NC Bloggers to let us put a link to their BLOG on our regional listing of BLOG sites! If you are a
Blogger, let us help increase your visibility by putting a link to your site in our pages !
Discussion Forums
We provide discussion forums so that voters and candidates can interact. Anyone is invited to add a comment!
We invite anyone to submit articles to our "News" pages as a guest article. Candidates can submit press releases, candidacy announcements,
or issue statements. These articles are also posted to the discussion forum to allow public input / comment.
We also encourage local civic groups, radio hosts, or news organizations to sponsor (no cost) a forum and facilitate a
discussion with local voters and candidates....we supply the place...you supply the discussion !
